The Screen cinema is to close down in one week. It's understood the theatre on Hawkins Street is shutting due to falling ticket sales.
SIPTU says staff in October were offered the choice of redundancy or a transfer to the Savoy on O'Connell Street, but the redundancy option has since been pulled. Workers have been told they'll be working from the Savoy from next week.
The cinema opened in 1980 however there's been a movie theatre on the site for decades. The bronze statue of an usher, which stood outside, was removed earlier this week.
