His two sons have told the Irish Examiner they're disappointed nobody in Government has been in touch

For her part, the Justice Minister says she would be happy to engage with the family.

Helen McEntee says she's been guided by their recent wish that they didn't want to meet yet in order to focus of their own family.

She said in a statement via her spokesperson ''Minister McEntee has condemned the attack on Mr. Termini in the strongest terms and wishes him well in his recovery.

She also wishes his family well as they deal with what has been a deeply traumatic event.

Minister McEntee has said she would be happy to engage or speak with Mr Termini’s family if they wish to do so, and that of course remains the case.

The Minister wanted to respect the family’s privacy and has been guided by their stated wishes, including their recent wish that they did not want to meet yet in order to focus on their own family.

Minister McEntee has said that violence on our streets will not be tolerated and has to be dealt with in the strongest possible manner.''
