The jury in the trial of a Pakistani man accused of raping a woman with down syndrome are due to start their deliberations this afternoon.
The man, who can’t be named, denies the charge.
The man, who is originally from Pakistan, is accused of taking the woman with down syndrome back to his Dublin flat and raping her.
The court heard she become separated from her mum while out for a jog in June 2013.
The accused admits sexual contact but says it was consensual and has previously told the court he believes she enjoyed it.
The Judge has told the jury that to prove rape beyond reasonable doubt, they must be satisfied with three things - that sex occurred, that the woman didn’t consent and the accused knew she didn’t consent.
This trial is now in its 20th day and The Judge is due to finish charging the jury after lunch and they will then start their deliberations.
