A jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering another man in broad daylight in Swords will resume its deliberations today.

Jooda Akanbi from Applewood in Swords denies the charge claiming he acted in self defence.

Forty five year old Taiwo Jamani spent several weeks on a life support machine before his death in November 2013, a month after he was knocked out during a fight on Main St in Swords.

The row broke out in broad daylight and witnesses claim they saw the accused, Jooda Akanbi, hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

Mr. Akanbi claims he was acting in self-defence.

The jurors can return one of three verdicts, guilty, not guilty, or guilty of manslaughter.

They’ll resume their deliberations this morning.
