The Anti Austerity Alliance says the arrest of TD Paul Murphy and three other activists will only 'intensify' opposition to the water charges.
The Dublin south-west TD was arrested at his home this morning in connection with the November protest in Jobstown that left the Tánaiste trapped in her car for over two hours.
Socialist TD Ruth Coppinger has branded the arrests "unjust", adding that "we're being inundated with calls to the Anti-Austerity Alliance offices all around the country".
"People are saying 'Je Suis Murphy' and so on, putting it on their Facebook profile", she claimed.
Three other men - including Anti-Austerity Councillors Mick Murphy and Kieran Mahon - were also arrested and all can be held for up to 24 hours.
