Two people remain in a serious condition after an Irishman went on a violent rampage in Northern Germany.
The man, who was aged in his twenties and armed with a knife, was killed as he tried to cross a busy motorway in Aachen.
Gardai are liaising with police in Germany, who say three people were stabbed by the Irishman.
It's reported that the man was known to the authorities here.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance to the dead man's family.
