An Australian news channel is reporting that an Irish surfer has gone missing in waters off Byron Bay.
The man, thought to be 19, disappeared while out surfing with two friends yesterday.
Nine News in Brisbane say the two friends, aged 26 and 20 were rescued by volunteers and sustained minor injuries.
The local new channel say the search for the missing Irishman had been called off in the last few hours due to rough conditions.
