Songs streamed on sites like Spotify and Deezer are to count towards Ireland's Music Chart.

The company that compiles it says it should provide a "good and true" reflection of what we're listening to.

IRMA - or the Irish Recorded Music Assosciation - says it's been trialing the streaming idea for the past month.

As things stand, IRMA won't be including YouTube hits in its official countdown.

Chairperson Willie Kavanagh has told 98FM why:

How will it actually work?

Willie told 98FM that they're still ironing a few issues out, like how many streams will equate to one purchase.

IRMA says it's on course to start including streaming in its official chart from next month.

Listen to a report on the story from 98FM's Enterainment Editor, Georgie Gavin.
