International Credit Card Scam Uncovered In The City

Gardaí have broken up a major credit card cloning and skimming scam in Dublin.

The crackdown began on Thursday.

Gardaí from Pearse St targeted the activities of individuals operating deep insert skimming devices in ATM's -and cloned credit cards.

It followed a tip off from the UK.

Two men in their thirties were arrested and questioned about two wallets containing 12 cards.

In a follow up, a BMW SUV was searched and 13 cards were seized along with expensive designer goods.

It's believed the items were bought with cloned credit cards.

A search of a flat in the city was also conducted and a number of documents were seized.

Another 41 fraudulent cards, a quantity of Cocaine, and €2,000 in cash were found in subsequent searches at Tyrellstown, the Navan Road and Prussia Street.

In all 66 cards were seized.

Gardaí say the investigation is continuing with assistance from Europol and other European Police forces.
