The two security guards who were injured as they attempted to break up a fight at Milltown Luas platform last week have spoken out for the first time since the incident.

28 year old James Finnerty received a serious stab wound to the leg, while 29 year old Marius Benusis suffered torn ligaments in his right hand.

According to The Sun, both men have faced trouble on the Luas before.

James had a knife pulled on him at the Heuston Station stop last month, and was bitten by a man last June, while Marius was hit over the head with an iron bar at Inchicore in 2009.

Gardai say the investigation is still ongoing.
