Hundreds of people have been recalled over X-ray errors in 7 hospitals including one in Dublin.

Thousands of X-rays and other scans have been reviewed after errors were discovered in the work of three temporary radiologists taken on by the HSE.

The affected facilities include Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown, Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda and 5 others around the country.

Hundreds of patients were recalled and at least one has had a late cancer diagnosis as a result.

The issue came to the attention of the HSE after medical colleague raised concerns.

The radiologists who no longer work here have been reported to the Medical Council.
