Howth lifeboat station is the busiest in Ireland. The crew brought almost 1,200 people to safety last year. Elsewhere Dun Laoghaire RNLI assisted 50 people.

Nationwide nearly 11,00 rescue missions were launched in 2015 with over 1,200 people saved. The RNLI says its missions range from the recovery of people drowned at sea, to stranded vessels - and even pets who've gone overboard.
