Sinn Fein's confirmed it's to table a motion of no confidence in the Housing Minister in the coming weeks.
Eoghan Murphy has been facing mounting criticism over the rising number of people becoming homeless despite long-term plans being put in place to solve the housing crisis.
Last week official stats showed the number of adults and children living in emergency accommodation 9,981.
Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald has told the party's think-in in Cavan that the Government is failing when it comes to the homelessness crisis, and Eoghan Murphy and his policies have to go.
All eyes will now turn to Fianna Fáil to see if it will vote against the minister.
The party has committed to supporting the government until after October's budget.
Reneging on that Confidence and Supply deal now could trigger a general election.
However, supporting Eoghan Muprhy as Housing Minister could look like the party's endorsing the way the housing crisis is being handled.
Táiniste Simon Coveney says Sinn Fein "has floated the notion of a motion of no confidence in me on a number of occasions. They do it to get attention for themselves and to get headlines. ... They should spend their time... getting the majority of parliament to back their big housing plan. They reason they aren't doing so is because they don't have one."
