HMV is coming back to Dublin.

It will open its first store in Ireland for almost a decade on Henry Street.

HMV Managing Director Phil Halliday from HMV says it will open on June 30th.

“We’re really excited to be back in a city that the company’s got a really great history in,” he said. “We’ve been itching to get back for a while so it's exciting to finally be able to put some dates and times on the plans.”

The 6,000 square foot space, let from Irish Life Investment Managers, will play host to three floors of the latest pop culture merchandise.

The store will stock over 15,000 products, including over 5,000 vinyl albums and 5,500 CDs.  The shop will also stock over 3,000 pop culture products and 1,000 different t-shirt designs.

Mr Halliday said the new store will also offer performance spaces and host shows and signings.

“[Music fans] can share the share their passion with likeminded people and enjoy some of the music we’ve got on and have a great time in the store browsing through the selection of products and merchandise that we have,” he said.

This is the first HMV to open outside the UK following a turnaround of the business under Canadian owner Doug Putman, who took over the company in 2019.

HMV shut its final premises in Ireland in 2016 and went online only, before it also shut down the website two years later.
