Heartless Thieves Returned Relic Over Fears They'd Been Cursed

It's reported Gardai recovered the heart of Dublin's patron saint after the thieves told them to search the Phoenix Park.

The Herald claims they wanted to return the relic of St Laurence O'Toole because they feared it was cursed.

The paper says they were spooked that a number of people close to them who had died of heart attacks since they stole the relic from Christ Church Cathedral in March 2012.

Assistant Garda Commissioner Pat Leahy presented the heart to the Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Michael Jackson, at a choral service in the cathedral yesterday evening.

Dean, Rev. Dermot Dunne, has told 98FM the relic will be kept under lock and key until a secure shrine to display the heart can be made.

It's hoped it could be put back on display in the cathedral on St Laurence O'Toole's feast day which is on the 14th of November.

Born in 1132 and the son of a Leinster chieftan, is closely associated with the early years of Christ Church Cathedral.
