Dublin City Council says it’s willing to give those who have taken over an empty building on Bolton Street time to seek legal advice.

The building, owned by the council, was originally used to accommodate homeless people. It was closed in 2011 after being deemed not fit for purpose.

The Irish Housing Network has carried out works at Bolton House to once again provide somewhere to stay for homeless families.

But the council claims they’re trespassing and is seeking a court order to have them removed.

The local authority has agreed to allow them stay while they consider their position, but wants access to the building and a list of those living there.

Rosie Leonard from the Irish Housing Network says there is still work to be done on the property:

"We've been doing it up for the past month. Currently there aren't as many people living there as we like, because we want it to be t the maximum standard."

Talks are continuing in the High Court this afternoon.
