Gardai are investigating a suspected murder suicide in Co. Louth.
Gardai believe a man who died in a crash on the M1 killed his wife hours earlier.
The body of a woman was found at a house in Hackballscross yesterday afternoon.
Gardai had called to the property to tell the woman named locally as Marie Quigley that her husband Jim was killed in a car crash on the M1.
They woman is believed to have suffered head injuries.
Her husband had died in a crash after colliding with a truck and a car after he drove the wrong way down the motorway near Ardee.
Three people travelling in the other car were taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
