Three people have been arrested after an attack by a teenage gang in County Meath.
A large group of teenagers got off a bus in Ashbourne last Friday, and approached a small local group in a multi-storey car park.
Gardai say the local group "immediately dispersed", but one of them was assaulted before they could step in.
The injured boy was kept in hospital overnight for observation.
A Garda who intervened in the assault also suffered minor injuries.
Gardai believe the majority of teenagers involved travelled from Swords by public transport.
They have identified a number of others who were involved, and are in the process of interviewing them.
Schools in Ashbourne and Swords are being asked to help make sure another assault like it doesn't happen.
