A network of specialist garda units are being set up to tackle a dramatic rise in burglaries across Dublin.
The new squads to be known as Burglary Response Units will replace the 6 divisional task forces already operating in Dublin
According to the Irish Independent, burglaries are set to be the number one policing priority in Dublin this year.
The directive from garda hq comes as figures show that there were 11155 robberies last year - up 17 percent on the previous year.
Car thefts saw the second biggest increase up 16 percent.
The burglary response units will see increased patrols in areas most affected and greater efforts made to identify thieves.
