A man is in a critical condition at Tallaght Hospital after he shot himself following a crash at the Spawell roundabout last night.
Just after midnight officers were alerted by a woman at a garage on the N81 near Templeogue that she had been kidnapped.
Gardai approached a car and it fled the petrol station chased by officers.
The car crashed a short time later at the Spawell roundabout.
The suspect then got out of the car and shot himself.
The Garda Ombudsman is investigating.
