Flight diverted to Shannon Airport following a bomb threat.

A transatlantic passenger jet has diverted to Shannon Airport following a bomb threat.

There was 227 people on board The plane,when it landed safely at Shannon at around 11 o'clock.

Turkish Airlines Flight 34 was traveling from Houston to Istanbul, and was due to land there at around 3:45 Irish time this afternoon.

However, it's understood that crew found a written note on board that caused them to divert to Shannon.

The airport was put on alert at around 9:00 this morning.

Fire service personnel from Shannon and Ennis were sent there, while the Irish Coast Guard and ambulance were also alerted.
