The first recruits to enter the Garda college in five years will soon be sent out to various Garda stations across the country.
Last September, the training college in Templemore welcomed 100 new officers for the first time since 2009.
Since then, they’ve been learning the core principles of the force through a brand new problem based programme.
They’ll be attested today and will mark the end of the first stage of training with a passing out parade in front of family and friends, the Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner.
They’ll leave the Templemore campus with full Garda powers but their training is far from over.
Next month, they’ll begin the second phase of their training when they’re sent out to 20 allocated Garda stations around the country.
