Malahide Castle in North County Dublin is to play host to Fingal County Council meetings until the end of the year.
The Sunday Independent is this morning reporting that that the Council meetings have been moved to the 12th century stately home while the chamber at County Hall in Swords undergoes extensive redevelopment work.
The work is being carried out to facilitate the increase in Councillor numbers from 24 to 40.
Malahide Castle is owned by Fingal Council and was chosen through a franchise arrangement in which a booking fee will apply.
The Castle's 900 year old Project Room which boasts over 250 acres of gardens will be used for the monthly meetings.
Local Councillor Malachy Quinn, Sinn Fein, says the move is only short term
