The Court of Appeal has tripled the jail sentence of a 74 year old Bray man in ill health who repeatedly raped his daughter when she was a child.
In 2013, Patrick O’Brien was jailed for three years for abusing Fiona Doyle at their Dun Laoghaire home in the 1970s and 1980s.
But just before Christmas, the Court of Appeal ruled that sentence was too low.
Today, he was handed a new sentence of 12 years with just the last three suspended.
Speaking at a press conference Fiona Doyle said her nightmare is now over.
