Our dear friend and colleague Johnny Lyons was laid to rest today.
The legendary 98fm Sports Editor died suddenly but peacefully at his home last Wednesday.
Hundreds of people attended his funeral at Mount Merrion this morning.
Johnny's brother Maurice gave the eulogy.
He said he'd been thinking about the right way to describe Johnny over the past few days, finally coming up with the right answer:
The congregation also heard many fond memories of his brother.
He told several funny stories that showcased Johnny's personality, and brought laughter to the crowd gathered at the church.
One in particular was when Johnny happened to meet Johnny Depp in Dublin:
His friend and colleague John Duggan, described Johnny as a "rock star" and a "great character".
He also shared his professional and personal memories with Johnny, praising his full life.
He also noted Johnny's wide variety of interests.
Johnny was buried at Shanganagh cemetery this afternoon.
