Fairview's footbridge may not be torn down after all.
Last month it emerged a proposed two way cycle lane from Amiens Street to Clontarf, would involve removing the pedestrian bridge, as well as sixty roadside trees.
That's despite the walk-way over a major junction being recently upgraded at a cost of quarter of a million euro.
After fierce local opposition, city engineers have now been asked to go back to the drawing board and look at alternatives.
It's understood one option is to create a graduated arc around the bridge, but it's not known if this will be feasible.
Junior Minister Labour's Aodhain O Riordain is to hold a public meeting tonight at 8pm in Smyths of Fairview.
Counsellors are to meet on the 20th of July to discuss the issue, and a decision will be made.
