Big changes in the Vatican as Cardinal Robert Prevost from Chicago has been elected the 267th Pope — and he’s gone with the name Pope Leo XIV. Yep, history has been made with the first-ever American to take up the role!

Affectionately known as "Father Bob", Leo XIV has had quite the journey. He spent years doing missionary work in Peru, became a dual citizen, and picked up the nickname “Latin Yankee” along the way. Not your typical papal CV!

His election comes following the passing of Pope Francis, and while the new pope shares many of his values — like championing social justice and looking out for the underdog — he’s a bit more low-key. Thoughtful, steady, and more about calm leadership than headline moments.

In his first address, Pope Leo XIV called for peace, unity, and inclusion, especially for those on the margins of society. The name Leo? It’s a nod to Leo XIII, who stood up for workers' rights — so expect a focus on fairness and dignity.

It’s a new era at the Vatican, and the world’s watching to see how Pope Leo XIV will lead the way.
