Sirens, screams and stretchers... But don't panic just yet - it's all a set-up.

Emergency services have staged a fake head-on collision, as part of their latest bid to cut road deaths among young drivers.

On the city's biggest college campus a student driver is hauled from her car.

Her spine is shattered. The scene just meters back from the Stillorgan Dual-Carriageway looks like a horror movie, but we're assured this is the reality of a car crash.

Almost a third of all road deaths involve people between the ages of 18 and 24. The Gardaí now want to show them just what that looks like

So, to avoid the horrors of today the message is simple. Wear your safety belt, do not use a phone while driving and if you are walking or cycling wear safety gear.
