Planned strike action at 7 Emergency Departments this morning has been called off, after the INMO and the HSE agreed to proposals including cash bursaries to attract new nurses.

Under the proposals put forward at the Workplace Relations Commission last night, ED nurses would get two additional days of annual leave next year and in 2017.

Recruitment initiatives include a relocation payment of 15-hundred euro for those recruited from abroad.

Nurses across the health service would be entitled to a 15-hundred euro educational incentive.

The INMO says the strike action has been deferred pending the outcome of a ballot of nurses on the proposals put forward last night.
