Dun Laoghaire has just missed out in being named Ireland’s cleanest town.

It was runner up behind Longford in the latest Irish Business Against Litter Survey.

It’s the first time for a number of years that a Dublin village has been shortlisted for the top spot in Irish Business Against Litter’s cleanest town survey.

Dun Laoghaire was up against four others who were vying for the title. However, they came runner up to Longford – who took the crown from three-times winner Kilkenny, who dropped to third place.

Dublin’s North inner city continues to be classed as littered although there has been an improvement in recent times.

The survey showed that the roads around Dublin Airport were clean to European norms but warned that the local council and the NRA need to keep it up if we’re to give visitors a good impression of the country.
