Dun Laoghaire's famous baths are finally set to undergo a long awaited upgrade.
The dilapidated structures have been approved for a 2.75 million euro make over into a state of the art coastal facility for the town.
Plans include an artist studio, a gallery cafe and public toilets while a new walkway will connect both the East Pier and the Peoples Park.
It is also proposed that the rear of the pavilion will be demolished allowing new landscaping.
Swimming facilities will also be upgraded with a new jetty for swimmers which will also act as a landing point for canoes and kayaks.
Plans provided to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Country Council will soon go to public consultation.
Recently an urban beach was granted planning permission by the council that will include both heated and sea water swimming pools.
