Dublin's rocketing population is not helping with the housing crisis.

That's according to Savills Ireland which says a rapid increase in the capital's population has had major implications for the city's housing shortage.

New CSO figures shows that population growth is running two and a half times faster than previously thought with 32-thousand extra people now living in the city compared to last year.

John McCartney of Savills says people are flocking to the city for work;

Meanwhile a novel new event is being billed as speed dating for flatmates.

Web site Lovin Dublin is hoping to hook up people who need a room with those who have one to fill.

People looking to share are given red stickers while those offering rooms get green ones.

The event takes place in pubs across the city.

It comes as the head of Paypal Ireland says the rent crisis is so bad here, they're now asking staff to offer rooms to new employees.
