Airline and travel sites are seeing a jump in people looking for their next holiday.

Many Dubliners are now back at their desks, trying to get back into the swing of things but the dull and damp weather isn't helping..

However, alot of people are using their free time to browse online, looking for a cheap city break or 2 weeks in the sun later in the summer.

Dermot Jewell from the Consumers Association of Ireland say package holidays booked through a travel agent are fine, but it's different if you're doing it yourself:

"If you do book online and you're going to a site just to book flights and you find yourself linked through or connected to another site that's selling hotel rooms or another one that's offering car hire, that is not a package holiday and you need to be careful in that regard. That's why one of the key issues is to make sure you print out all of the documentation on the day you make the booking".

Dermot added that if you're not comfortable with a particular site, you can always look it up to see if it is the real deal:

"Use a website call whois.com. If you key in the website you're dealing with, it will tell you who owns it, where it's coming from and what country it's locked into. It's really important, there are some real life scams out there".

Dermot says now is also the time to buy travel insurance, making sure you're fully covered in case something happens around the time you're due to fly off
