Irish Rail is looking for Government support for a massive new project to connect Dublin Airport with the rest of the country.

The company says the 300 million euro link would boost tourism and the economy and open the entire rail network to air passengers.

Irish Rail says if it gets the go-ahead, the project would take less than five years to build and could carry three million passengers every year.

Spokesperson Barry Kenny says it's an ambitious plan - but it is workable.
