Drugs worth over €100,000 and three guns have been seized in Clondalkin.

Gardaí on traffic patrol made the discovery after confiscating two cars on the city's westside.

Around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon, Gardaí in Clondalkin seized two cars under the Road Traffic Act.

They began a search -- and turned up dozens of bottles of pills, plastic bags of cocaine, and a block of heroin.

A chrome snub-nosed revolver; an automatic handgun, and a machine-pistol with a folding stock were also found in the cars -- plus ammunition.

They're being sent to a Garda lab for examination -- but it's believed the drugs are worth around €115,000.

Superintendent Paul Dolan remarked this evening,
"This is a significant seizure of weapons and illegal drugs."
"We would like to reassure the public that An Garda Síochána are taking all measures to tackle criminality in the community and keep people safe.”
No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
