The need for emergency beds for the homless continues to grow.

That's despite the provision of almost 300 additional beds before Christmas.

The survey from the Dublin Region Homeless Executive shows that almost all the extra beds put in place last year are full ever night.

And once again demand for emergency accommodation is growing.

The report also outlines how a government task force had to lower its housing target last year.

Only 43 adults moved to private accommodation in the last 3 months of 2014 - that is the lowest rate yet and reflective of the high cost of rents.

In repsonse the Environment Minister has directed the 4 local authorities to allocate half of all housing to the homeless for the first 6 months of this year.
