Irish Rail says it will be investigating after the doors on a DART carriage which wasn't at a platform unlocked this morning, ready to be opened.
The 8-carriage train stopped at Tara Street, but had not been brought to the top of the platform - meaning the last carriage was still out on the tracks.
The driver activated the doors to be opened, but a member of platform staff alerted the driver and customers to the issue, and customers in the rear section of the train did not open the doors.
The DART was then brought fully on to the platform, and passengers got off safely.
Irish Rail says it will be formally investigating the incident.
