A convicted rapist from Killiney has lost his legal action against the State for recording phone calls he made to his solicitor during his trial.

In 2013, Michael Murray of Killiney Oaks was jailed for 15 years for abducting his victim and her four year old son.

He had lured the woman to an apartment in the city centre by telling her that an elderly person was in need of help.

The woman's four year old son had walked in on the incident at one stage to check if his mother was alright.

Mr Murray appeared before the High Court today seeking damages for the recording of his phone calls.

Prisoners calls are always recorded, with the exception of calls to solicitors and the Samaritans.

The calls had been recorded by accident. However, the court accepted that the content of the phone calls was not accessed or passed on to anybody.
