Residents of Rockville Drive who have been stopping survivors of the Carrickmines halting site fire from moving into a temporary site near their homes say they believe the suggested set up would be a fire hazard.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council wants to move a family of fifteen into mobiles homes in a field for six months, until a new permanent site is ready.
However, the move has been on hold all week because local residents have narrowed the access road by parking their cars along both sides of the road in opposition to the move.
It had been suggested they were concerned about possible anti-social activity, but the group now says it has "nothing to do" with who will be moving in and that it is simply afraid there could be a repeat of last weekend's fatal fire.
10 people, five adults and five children, died when flames tore through their homes at a halting site on Glenamuck Road last Saturday morning.
Residents of Rockville Drive say, should a fire break out beside their homes, Dublin Fire Brigade could find getting access to the field at the top of the road difficult.
A family of fifteen who survived last weekend's blaze were due to move into four mobile homes in a field chosen by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, but that still hasn't happened.
There have been a number of talks between concerned residents and council officials over the past few days, and are expected to continue this afternoon.
98FM News has contacted Dublin Fire Brigade for a response.
