The refurbished Clontarf Baths won't open to the general public next month unless the company that's behind the restoration can secure extra funding.

The baths closed 22 years ago but a revamp costing over 2 million euro will see the facility restored to its former glory. The team behind it is aiming to relaunch the leisure facility in February.

It will include a 250 seater restaurant as well as a nautical-themed cocktail bar.

However according to the Irish Times, the 20 x 40 metre outdoor seawater pool may not open to the general public next month as planned due to funding issues.

Resources linked to staffing and lifeguards are needed, so only groups like swimming clubs may have access initially.

The company is to approach Dublin City Council and Dublin Port for financial help.
