City Council Backs Vote For Elected Mayor

City councillors have backed a proposal to allow Dubliners to vote for a directly elected mayor.

If any one of the other 3 local authorities in the Dublin area block the move, the proposition won't be put to the public.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal will hold their votes on March 31st.
