Smokers will be paying an extra 40 cents for their cigarettes this morning, after the introduction of what's being called the Nidge Tax.
The other old reliables such as booze and petrol weren't touched in yesterday's budget, but the price of tobacco went up.
It could raise 53 million for the Government but Independent Dublin TD Finian McGrath voted against the move last night:
