A new report is claiming that children as young as nine are gambling in Ireland.
It's calling for a National Strategy to help stop problem gambling.
Dr. Crystal Fulton from University College Dublin helped put the study together.
She says that "maybe they [kids] are picking up lotto ticket winnings for a family member. By their early teens they're having a gambling experience, so they're actually gambling not just exposed to gambling, and then from there over a period of years it intensifies, and for those who have a problem that's kind of the course of events, and then they have an issue."
The study also showed that teenagers are gambling up to three times more than adults.
Donal Kiernan from the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland is aware of smartphone addiction and "the accessibility that gives to all ages to online gambling."
The Gaming & Leisure Association of Ireland (GLAI) has welcomed the publication of the study.
