Locals in the Camden Street area are up in arms about a British pub chain's plans to turn a vacant site into a hotel.
Wetherspoons say the development will restore vitality to a derelict end of the street - but residents say the area will just become another Temple Bar, which is great fun for revellers, not for anyone else.
They're objecting to the €4m hotel and pub development on the former Camden Hall Hostel site, saying "enough is enough."
The application to revamp the hostel is part of Wetherspoon's plans to open 30 pubs in Ireland over the next five years. They have already opened bars in Swords, Blanchardstown, Dun Laoghaire, Temple Bar and Blackrock.
