The Law Reform Commission wants it to be harder for killers to benefit from their crimes, in areas like insurance or a family home.
There had been calls for the law to be reviewed in the wake of a legal battle between Eamonn Lillis and the family of his late wife Celine Cawley.
Mr Lillis was released from jail earlier this year, after serving a sentence for Ms Cawley's manslaughter, in Howth in 2008.
Today's report recommends changes to the laws of succession when someone has been convicted of murder, attempted murder or manslaughter.
