One of the country's busiest hospitals is limiting admissions to its Emergency Department this weekend, due to serious overcrowding.
Some elective surgeries have also been cancelled at Beaumont Hospital next week as it tackles the problem.
Patients are being asked to avoid going to Beaumont Hospital's ED and some ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals.
The hospital is urging the HSE to start allocating resources from the 25 million euro in its service plan to help address delayed discharges.
