A site on Aungier Street could be used to ease the student accommodation crisis.
A developer's applied to build a 7-storey apartment block with 300 en suite bedrooms in a former dance hall.
Part of it would face on to Stephen Street Upper and overlook Dublin Castle.
The Office of Public Works and the Department of Arts and Heritage have raised concerns about the project.
