Gardai are renewing their appeal for information about the murder of Niall Mulvihill who was shot dead in the city centre 12 years ago today.

The 57 year old taxi driver was suspected of being involved with various gangland criminals including ‘The General’ Martin Cahill.

On Jan 23 2003, Mr. Mulvihill was driving along Spencer Dock Bridge in his red Mercedes taxi when a dark coloured car pulled up alongside him.

A gunman jumped out of the passenger side and fired a number of shots at him from close range.

Niall managed to drive onto the North Circular Rd. where he crashed his taxi.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardai say Niall was involved with gangland figures and believe somebody out there knows something that could help find his killer.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station directly or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
