Women's groups are calling for a code of conduct for taxi drivers.

It comes as almost 1000 complaints were made against cabbies last year.

Figures from the National Transport Authority show that 952 complaints were made in 2014.

Driver behaviour was the most common complaint, making up nearly half of all grievances.

Two hundred and eight cases were referred to gardai while warnings were issued in just 2 percent of cases.

No further action was taken in almost 60 percent of complaints.

Woman's rights groups are calling for training and a code of conduct to be drawn up for drivers on how to avoid causing offence to female passengers.
