Shareholders at Aer Lingus have cleared the way for the airline to be sold.
IAG, the parent company of British Airways, is buying it for €1.4BN.
Aer Lingus Chairman Colm Barrington doesn't think customers "will see much difference initially, but over time then they will become part of the IAG group of companies, they will become part of the one world alliance which will give them greater connectivity worldwide."
He also thinks that employees "will see greater opportunities, they'll see more flights, more jobs for pilots and cabin crew and maintenance people."
It has been almost six months since Aer Lingus first announced the plans to accept the IAG offer.
